SWEX pilot (spring 2018)
In April 2018, the Sundowner Wind EXperiment was conducted to observe for the first time atmospheric profiles during Sundowner conditions. The field experiment consisted of 3-hourly radiosoundings at one location on the south-facing side of the Santa Ynez Mountains. For analysis, these observations were validated and complemented with numerical simulations using the WRF model. Observational data is freely available A second, much more extensive campaign, is planned for Spring 2021: see SWEX-II Related publications: Carvalho et al 2020 doi |
