Solar Eclipse experiment 2017
On August 21 2017 the Great Solar Eclipse occurred over contiguous US. In Virginia, a partial eclipse occurred. Stephan FJ De Wekker's lab from Dept. of Environmental Sciences at University of Virginia conducted a small field experiment in complex terrain to reveal the subtle response of the atmosphere to this natural phenomenon. The field experiment consisted of one 10-m flux tower, 5 AWS, a lidar, radiosoundings and tethered balloon soundings before, during, and after the eclipse.
