Even though the flux tower in Sedgwick only has been operational since September 21 2023, the site already experienced two partial solar eclipses: October 14 2023 and April 8 2024. Below is a figure that compiles the changes in the local meteorology during the two events. Both eclipses had different levels of obscurations (around 70% for October event and 45% for April event), leading to different characteristics in local meteorology:
The flux tower is located on the foothills of the San Rafael Mountains in Sedgwick preserve (see picture below). This location is around 50 miles north of Santa Barbara in the Santa Ynez Valley. More info on the tower can be found on the page of the flux tower.
